During 2005 two new hotels were added in Chiang Mai, both of them very close to the Chiang Mai Plaza. The Chedi Hotel charges $200 for the lowest price room, so we never bothered to check it out. It was not easy to get into the very private riverside hotel, but the Yaang Come Village was more convenient. The Yaang Come, which means ___ tree, is a lovely little botique hotel that is between the Plaza Hotel and The Whole Earth restaurant. The rooms of the hotel are in the northern Thai style and their bathrooms are absolutely ultra modern. The lobby of the Yaang Come is tiny and open air. In an outdoor porch they offer wireless internet with a couple of computers there that guests can use. The sign for the hotel is lovely, and although it was standing when we arrived, it was pure white, and little by little it was painted until the final version as seen in the first photo.
