At the top of a hill at the edge of Mae Sai stands a beautiful outdoor temple that consists of three parts: an octogonal tower, a large statue of a scorpion, and a two story building with altars on top and religious art on the first floor. A stairway leads to the top of the hill, but another, easier way is by a zig zagging road that passes through a congested area of market vendors. At the top of the temple lookout I met a group of visiting Chinese tourists. Thailand is a popular spot for the Chinese when they travel because the costs within Thailand are close to the prices in China.
