We were delighted to find out shortly after we arrived in Chiang Mai that a yearly Gifts Fair was being held in the city. It is the custom to exchange gifts in Thailand for the new year, so they, too, are in the market for buying presents in the month of December. Not knowing quite what to expect, we took a tuk tuk to the site of the fair. It's hard to describe what we found. Suffice it to say we went back for a second day and bought lots of gifts for ourselves. Carlos even had a pair of shoes tailor made for him for the outrageous sum of 450 baht, or $11.25 US. These photos try to show some of the fun and excitement we felt while shopping at the fair.
