The next day we took a taxi to the Asia Hotel where we would stay for one week. This hotel is, like the Ambassador, where we stayed the last few times in Bangkok, one of the luxury hotels from the 1970s complete with a shopping mall. Located just two blocks from Siam Center, the Asia Hotel is on the Skytrain route with its own special entrance to the train from its lobby. Although their rooms may not be as elegant and new as in the newer Bangkok hotels, the rooms lack nothing as far as conveniences. There are several restaurants in the hotel and a theater where one can see one of the spectacular Thai transvestite shows.
