Ever since I read about the Orchid Festival at Maejo University I knew we would have to go. Since the school is far from our hotel we had to have Jane take us, and once we got there, we had to take a tram from the parking area to the place where the orchids were on display. I get a kick out of the university's mascot--they are the Cowboys. Isn't that funny? I've read that the three things that Thai people most like to do are eat, shop and play cards. I don't know about the cards, but I do know that anywhere Thais gather there are food stalls and vendors. All along the route from the parking area to the orchid display there were vendors. Most of them sold food, but a lot of them had some pretty nice merchandise. I saw a skirt fabric that I really liked; one of the vendors sold socks and had plastic feet hanging from an umbrella, and along the way I spotted a beautiful poster of Thailand. Here are some of the things we saw before we got to the orchids.
