A BOAT RIDE ON THE LAGOON(25 images)

After lunch we went for a ride in a glass bottom boat and saw some of the sting rays through the glass. The boat skirted the island giving us incredible views of the lush tropical paradise. The large reef that surrounds the island protects it from the open sea and causes the lagoon to be calm and oh so peaceful peaceful with crystal clear water. It's almost like a lagoon in the park it's so calm.

When we were ready to leave at the end of a delightful day, we were taken to the dock, and while we were waiting for the ferry to the airport, we started talking with some ladies who had been visiting a Tahitian lady on Bora Bora.

Their friend had accompanied them to the dock, and she presented each of them with a farewell shell lei, as is the Tahitian custom.

After talking with the women for a few minutes, the Tahitian lady reached into a bag she carried and pulled out shell leis for us. We were so touched when she gave us those hand made leis. She refused any money for them. We had nothing to give her, and we felt very bad until my mom thought of a good ballpoint pen she had in her purse. When she handed it to the lady, you would have thought she had given her a diamond. Her smile stretched from ear to ear. I'm sure it was pure graciousness rather than delight at receiving a pen, but she made us feel so good.
