Every year just before school started, we took a three or four day trip to someplace. Usually we went to New Orleans, but one year we decided to go to Dallas and Fort Worth. In Dallas we visited an unusual downtown sculpture of a cattle drive. Between Dallas and Fort Worth there are a dozen or so suburban areas where we visited Las Colinas, an office complex with a famous sculpture called "The Mustangs." The life-sized horses appear to be galloping across a plaza, splashing through ponds of water creating a very impressive sight. Nearby are the Las Colinas Movie Studios. In Fort Worth the most interesting site to me is the Water Garden, an ultra modern sunken series of cement steps leading down to a pool at the bottom. Water tumbles over the steps and a path of cement blocks about two feet apart leads down to the walkway around the pool. The view from the top is impressive, and the sight of the water tumbling under your feet as you make your way down is, if not frightening, at least strong enough to make you take care with your steps.
