Many of the employees at Spiers wore typical costumes so this was the first place where I really felt as if I were in Africa.
Spiers has a multi tented restaurant as well as an outdoor bar that is air conditioned, and there are tented tables in a cocktail lounge area.
Among the shops I found some very interesting things made of plastic bags. They were really beautiful, and I almost bought something, but the price stopped me. I don't remember now, but it was far more than the items were worth.
At the back of the complex stood a historic building that is presently being used as a display as well as a gift shop. The sales lady there was very pleasant and understood that I was unable to buy the large wooden items for sale there. She told me that although I couldn't carry the things home, I could carry their memories in photos. All in all, it was an exceptional stop on our tour of the Wine Country.
