President Hotel in Cape Town (29 images)
The hotel where we stayed belonged to the Protea Group, a South African chain with hotels of all price ranges. Protea is a kind of flower that grows in South Africa. The President was in the second from the best of five groups of hotels. It was a beautiful place, but although the hotel afforded incredible views of the South Atlantic Ocean, its location left a lot to be desired because it was a long way from the area where tourists would like to be. The previous hotel used by smarTours was right at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, a perfect location for tourists and shoppers.

Our rooms at the President helped to make up for the location because they were actually two room suites with a full kitchen/living room and a separate bedroom. Near our hotel was a small shopping area with an internet cafe and a couple of supermarkets, so the location wasn't all bad.

The food at the hotel's restaurant was excellent. I loved their cream of butternut squash soup. The hotel gift shop was well stocked with fairly reasonable prices. And the mountain view from the parking lot was great.
