Just like Grace Kelly and Prince Ranier, we had to have both a civil and a religious ceremoney. The strange thing is that we didn't know about the civil ceremoney requirement until after we were married more than a year, but as soon as we found out, we hurried up and had a civil ceremony. These photos were taken at our civil ceremony that was attended only by Carlos' mother, his sister and his sister's two children.

As you can see it was not a gala occasion, but we had fun and that evening we had a party for our friends at our house complete with a small wedding cake. When my mother found out about it, she was furious we hadn't told her we were going to do it because she said she would have been there to see it. At least, she said, she would have made me a new outfit to wear. The pants suit that I did wear was brand new and one she had made for me.
