First we located the Habor View Gift Shop, a very nice souvenir and mememto shop that had once been a house. The place was small, but every inch was filled with souvenir items such as silver penguin jewelry, tee shirts with penguins, stuffed penguins, wooden penguins, penguin topped pencils, penguin magnets, and I think you get the idea. They had sterling silver penguiin bracelets and earrings as well as jackets covered from collar to hem with, you guessed it, penguins.
The second shop, The Capstan Gift Shop, was just across the street from the Anglican Cathedral, and that shop was much larger. No reworked home this, the buildling gave every appearance of having been built as a business. Again the shelves were filled with penguins, but they also had other items. One section of the store had a selection of cameras at about twice the US cost. There must be a lot of cameras that break on cruises for their to be such a large selection of them available there.
The third and final store in Port Stanley was a grocery store with an annex that sold electronics, greeting cards and sundries. They had the cutest half size carts.
The Falkland Islands do not grow vegetables or fruit, so they all must be imported. It was quite interesting to see the quality of the produce available as well as the prices of them.
