KUCHING CATS AND THE KUCHING CAT MUSEUM (49 images)
The name of the city of Kuching, the capital of Sarawak, means cat, and the town has capitalized on that fact. At the entrance to the downtown area stands a white kitty waving his paw in welcome. Not too far away in Chinatown a pillar adorned with cats decorates the esplanade of a wide street in Chinatown. In the center of town a fountain devoted to a cat family gurgles water as the proud parents watch over their playful kittens. Several other feline statues grace the lawns along the river. High on a hill in the newer part of town is the Kuching Cat Museum, the first of its kind in the world. All sorts of items devoted to cats can be found in the delightful museum.
