Parnu is a quaint seaside city close enough to the capital city of Tallin so that it is a popular weekend retreat. We visited there on a Sunday and it was very cold since the cold front that had hit is two days before in Latvia had arrived there. The sidewalk cafes, inviting though they might have been, were deserted, and surprisingly, the stores were closed. Imagine a resort city in the US closing on a Sunday! Very odd! Because of the cold, I didn't bother going to the coast. Instead I wandered around the town and fell in love with the pleasingly different architecture and the fanciful designs of the buildings. I even found one outside table occupied by four hearty souls.
