Because of the high cost of shore excursions, we had to pick and choose carefully when it came to which tours we would take. Because of the fact that we wanted to take the tours to Lima and Santiago, we did not take a ship's tour in Ushuaia. The fact that we didn't go on a tour gave us time for shopping. The city of Ushuaia, the world's southernmost city, has plenty of souvenir shops since they get a lot of tourists both by land and by ship. The merchandise available was incredible. From heavy winter jackets to stuffed rabbits, we were able to wander the aisles of various stores and select what we wanted. This city is definitely prepared for today's tourist with a plethora of magnets, stuffed animals, tee shirts, keychains, etc.
