Puerto Madryn is becoming a popular weekend and summer vacation spot for the residents of Buenos Aires since it is just a short plane ride from the capital. Because of its new popularity, the town has a large number of new hotels.
Some of those downtown look quite nice.
Souvenir shops selling items the locals would want are quite common in the town.
They even have a mall which I thought was adorable.
The open center part is very tiny, a perfect square with a cute elevator on one side and an up escalator on another with the down escalator on the third. There may have been a dozen stores in the mall.
One of the stores had a huge display or purple and yellow items.
I imagine that must be the high scool colors.
A jewelry store had a large collection of items carved from the pretty pink stone
(rhodochrysite) that Argentines call Inca rose.
